Joining the Nature-Positive Initiative
Kuniken Ltd. has made its Nature-Positive Declaration in response to the call from the Japan Conference for 2030 Global Biodiversity Framework (J-GBF), an organization directed by the Ministry of the Environment.
*Nature-positive refers to efforts to halt biodiversity loss and restore nature.
What is Nature-Positive?

Nature-positive means halting and reversing biodiversity loss to put nature on the road to recovery.
Achieving nature-positive by 2030 is a short-term goal toward achieving the 2050 vision. To achieve Nature-Positive 2030 and drive the restoration of nature, we will strengthen our efforts across multiple fronts, integrating biodiversity conservation with climate action, resource circulation, and other key initiatives. By safeguarding healthy ecosystems as the foundation of human survival, we aim to preserve and restore nature’s vital resources while fostering sustainable socio-economic activities that protect and utilize natural capital.

Nature-positive has been discussed at international conferences such as COP 15 and G7, and Japan has set a national strategy to achieve it by 2030. This includes the 30 by 30 initiative to ensure healthy ecosystems on at least 30% of land and oceans. It will also have a significant impact on the global economy, with job creation and increased trade expected.
Corporate activities are supported by natural capital through various ecosystem services while also impacting it. If we are unable to enjoy the benefits of ecosystem services, it will become challenging to maintain the lifestyle we have come to take for granted. For this reason, the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), a framework for disclosing corporate biodiversity risks and opportunities, is attracting attention. From now on, companies will be required to incorporate nature-positive initiatives into their business and disclose them appropriately.
Biodiversity varies from place to place, as do the impacts of corporate activities. As such, we will plan and implement nature-positive initiatives for each area of our projects.
