In my mind, I had the image of the banyan tree with a thousand roots that I saw during my student days in Yaeyama. Its green leaves spread out so widely that it was difficult to tell which part was the trunk, and I thought its shade provided the best space for people to relax. The 400-meter-long piloti, spanning approximately 3,000 tsubo, architecturally embodies the shade of that banyan tree I once saw.
The semi-outdoor piloti space softens the intense sunlight of Okinawa and creates a well-ventilated environment.
