Kita-Daito Village Elementary and Junior High School Social Studies Supplementary Textbook Development Project
2021 Cultural & Educational Facilities
We developed a local study material for the children of Kita-Daito Island, a border island located approximately 360 km east of Okinawa Island. This material helps them deepen their understanding of the island’s unique history, nature, and culture, which began with its development during the Meiji period.
For lower elementary grades, we created a workbook that allows students to write down what they discover as they walk around and explore. For the upper grades, we compiled a textbook in literature form. For junior high school students, we published a resource collection that includes tables, graphs, and newspaper articles, making it useful for independent study.
We organized a committee consisting of the Village’s policy advisor, the superintendent of education, and school teachers to develop the materials with the aim of making learning engaging and interesting for the children.
