Naha Port Building

This facility is located along a main road in Naha City and aims to be a welcoming commercial building that embodies the soft, inviting essence of Okinawa.

The exterior walls are inspired by traditional Shuri weaving, combining various design panels to create classical patterns.

Even in the same color, these panels produce gentle shades, creating an evolving classical motif that reflects Okinawa’s unique character, changing subtly from different viewing angles, sunlight angles, and times of the day.

The horizontally emphasized exterior walls are bright in color, with the color of the continuous windows darkened to create a deep contrast, making the white walls stand out prominently.

Utilizing a comprehensive design system, the exterior offers a tranquil space for pedestrians. It preserves the existing large banyan tree and incorporates palm trees and Ryukyu limestone-like tiles at the ground level, aiming to create a scene that evokes the distinctive atmosphere of Okinawa.
