Naha Secondary Joint Government Building No. 1

2003 Government Buildings & Offices

The 2nd Naha Joint Government Building aims to create a “community-based government office” that leverages the local characteristics of Okinawa’s nature, culture, and history. As an administrative facility in the New Naha City Center Civic Core District, it strives to enhance regional communication. The facility includes ample open spaces around the site and features such as tall trees and pergolas near intersections to create a “refreshing plaza” that provides shade. The building layout reduces the sense of oppression on the surroundings and includes pathways that allow easy passage through the site, demonstrating consideration for the surrounding environment and users in the district.

In accordance with the Green Government Building Plan Guidelines and other development strategies, the building actively addresses global warming and environmental conservation issues. Additionally, it aims to create a “low environmental impact government office” by utilizing the unique climate, culture, and environmental characteristics of Okinawa.
