A Lifelong Learning Center Rooted in the Community and Looking Toward the Future
As a lifelong learning hub for “Nishihara, the town of education and culture,” the goal was to create a “community library” that is more accessible and easy to use, where people can encounter books, meet each other, and serve as a base for fostering, spreading, and transmitting local culture to future generations.
The first floor houses the general book collection room, children’s book collection room, office space, and automated book storage. The second floor has a conference room, multimedia workshop, and assembly room (with a capacity of about 80 people).
The general book collection room features large openings on the north side to avoid direct sunlight while allowing natural light to enter, creating a comfortable space where visitors can enjoy reading and other activities.
