Okinawa International University Higashi Village Seminar House

2000 Cultural & Educational Facilities

In the planning of this facility, where a university with its main campus in the city sought to expand campus life into the nature-blessed environment of the Higashi Village mountains, three fundamental principles were established: a seminar house open to nature, a seminar house free from everyday life, and a seminar house open to the community. To embody these three “openings,” the facility design actively incorporates eaves that block strong sunlight and transparent openings that allow light and wind to pass through.
