Okinawa Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired
2008 Sports & Health
The Okinawa Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired is a social welfare facility dedicated to supporting individuals with visual impairments. In 2008, due to the aging of the existing building, it was rebuilt into a new facility, becoming a multifunctional complex that includes the Welfare Association office, a massage center, a Braille library, and training rooms.
This facility is supported by many volunteer staff. During the reconstruction, efforts were made to create a bright and welcoming facility to further invigorate the volunteer activities that have been developed over the years. Large windows provide bright interiors, and prominent louvers give the exterior a soft appearance.
To ensure its functionality, the facility is zoned by floor. The association office and massage center are conveniently located on the first floor, the Braille library is consolidated on the second floor to enhance operational efficiency, and the training rooms are on the third floor (top floor) to ensure sufficient ceiling height. The floors inside the facility are equipped with non-slip floor sheets along the walls to assist and alert visually impaired facility users.
